Photography is my first objective, but there is always plenty of memories in the making that can be captured in video. It’s a balancing act that I discuss ahead of time with each client. My last wedding had a lot more emphasis on video. Here’s part of the result.
note: there is a technical glitch at the end.

The Dollar Dance begins. The bride and groom entertained nearly every guest in a relaxed and amply paced dollar dance. Someone later made a really ornate origami-fold-style bouquet from some of the money.

I took this one shot of the organist playing at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church. The 70-200mm lens was what I had at the time to reach across the mandatory 30′ “stay back” zone imposed by the clergy. I was standing pretty close to the organist in my 3 or 4′ walking zone.

Ramping up for a December 4th Wedding, I took a series of engagement photos on the beach at Corona Del Mar. I took Jasmine Starr’s advice and warmed the couple up in a spot I didn’t really care as much about at the top of the cliffs. I told them this was just a “warm up” so everyone could get comfortable and that we may get a few shots we liked there too:
I liked this photo! It doesn’t seem to have any outstanding technical merits, but I like the expressions and mood here.
Then we moved down to the water and got a bunch of great shots. By time the water got them wet, they relaxed and enjoyed the shoot.
After the wave hit, everyone relaxed and had a great time.
Engagement photos shot at the Huntington Beach Hyatt Hotel.
Mom gets a kiss from her son and new daughter-in-law. She tried her hardest not to smile but we all conspired and got quite a few smiles from her!
